Blowing In The Warmer Than Usual Feb. Indiana Wind...

This one is Singer Sister Marilyn's"

This one is Singer Sister "Barb's"
These are their first quilts, they made them just the right size to use in their recliners... I quilted them (they have yet to learn free motion skills) and they are already for them when they come for their sewing day in the morning.
I can't wait, even though they are small they will mean a lot to them I know... you gotta love quilting and the emotions that go along with it...

I am practicing my free motion skills on my NEW JUKI 2000qi!

Well I am still in the honeymoon period with my new Juki that the DH gave me for my 42nd... It arrived Tuesday and even though I was still a little under the weather I could not get it unpacked quick enough! I gotta say, I sure love this machine. If I could change one thing about it I would have made the bobbin hold more thread. It can go so fast that it runs out quicker than you want it to. Here is a couple of small chair quilts I am working on for two of my sewing buddys. I am trying to kind of Trapunto style with it but I still need many hours of practice. But that is what Leah Day says to do... practice practive PRACTICE!

Singer Sisters Sewing Group, their second project..

They are at it again, and they are having great fun. Each lady made theirself a lap quilt to keep cozy while watching their favorite TV show.  Marilyn on the left with her blue pinwheel and Barb on the left with her brown pinwheel. They were such a hoot trying to get those pinwheels to come together in the middle just right. Both are starting to get a lot more done on Wednesday's as they gain their confidence.  And both have caught a virus that causes you to be obsessed with fabric... probably caught it from me.  I will quilt these for them on my new Juki! Can't wait!  They are getting ready to star practicing free motion quilting soon.
Blessings everyone!

I could just do a flip!

I could just do a double back flip! My husband bought me a brand spanking new machine for our 42nd! I just can not wait till its delivered! It's a very fast FAST Juki TL-2000Qi Long arm quilting machine. I just can't believe it! If anyone else has one please leave a comment and let me know anything you have gleaned from using this sweetie pie.  I even got a 50 dollar gift certificate with it, guess I will get me some good thread, which kind should I buy? I have been using my old Singer 15-91 to free motion on and I am so very fond of it but WOW a real quilting machine! I am just so excited!
Blessings to all!

Pinwheel Throw Top, almost done...

I know... this is one wild colored pinwheel for sure. I was trying to use up some stash I had in fall colors. I think I will border it either in black or brown. The blocks are 12 inches after I squared them up. I started with two ten inch blocks sewn together with good sides together sewing a quarter inch seam all around then criss crossed cut with my rotary cutter and opened out and a pinwheel pattern made. Then I sewed the cuts together matching all the seams, then side by side till I had sewn them all together.
As you can see my little Jack Bitsi Boo is inspecting my work. DH is holding up and hollering for me to hurry and take the picture because he was ready to colaspe... such a whiner....
Now onward and upward for 2012 finishes, I have a stack to quilt and two others to piece so far.... such fun!
 Happy Sewing in 2012 Everybody!!!!

Merry Christmas & God Bless Us Everyone

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and I am so excited because in the morning I will take my grandbabies and myself shopping to spend their gift cards, I got some Joann's cards myself! lol Hubby has been sick as well as son and daughter inlaw. But we ate good anyway. My little Jack Russell Bitsi had her first Christmas with us and she was a real hoot, she loved all of her presents way more than expected and was excited as the kids were! The only thing missing here was SNOW! I would still like a little snow but the sunshine was nice too. HAPPY BIRTHDAY JESUS!

Pinwheel Christmas Pillows, so fun!

So far I have made four sets of these pinwheel pillows, this being the only set I remembered to get a picture of. They are even prettier once stuffed, these haven't been yet. On this pair I thought if I would just shadow quilt the blue pinwheels and it might make them stand out a little better and it was the also the first time I have ever used high loft poly batting, usually use warm and natural. I like the puffy look of the quilting on these.

Although I didn't make any tutorial pictures they was pretty simple to make. I used 10 inch blocks, put them face to face and sewed a quarter in seam all the way around, cut them criss cross and then opened them up and laid out the pieces in a pinwheel pattern and sewed them back together which makes about a 12 inch block. Then I cut a piece of batting for each block and then free motioned quilted them on my old Singer 15-91.  I use a vintage Pfaff darning foot that I found in an auction box, its fits my 15 better than any free motion foot I ever bought.  I treat it like its gold...

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY!

So we made snowmen!

Our little sewing group " Singer Sewing Sisters" met Wednesday but we didn't quilt like usual, instead I had pulled together a bunch of crafting goodies and we made these fun snowmen. They are made from cotton batting and sprinkled with German glass glitter. We listened to Christmas music as we crafted.

I Am A Busy Old Lady... fer sure...

I threw another sewing space together and I am working like an Elf to get Thanksgiving bingo prizes done. Plus I am working on my husband's bowtie quilt for Christmas, plus... I am doing machines up for eBay, plus... my sewing gig on Wednesday's with my homies.... whew! I am a busy old lady fer sure... And on top of all this I have been diagnosed with diabetes and have had a recent bout with shingles. Then to top it all off I about took my finger off with my rotary cutter. I bought those cheap blades that everybody was talking about at the "tool place hubby goes." Yeah well forget about those, they are really not what I think cuts good, unless its your finger you want to take off.  Take all that and then add in a few everyday chores  and a stack of medical bills from hubby's tumble from a tree this spring and its no wonder I have shingles.  But fabric makes me happy and when I look it at I forget about all those other things.  Frabric in large doses at least four times a day can really improve your health!
Then last but not least here are a couple of the machines I listed tonight on ebay, check out paulsdomestiques1 and you will find them and a couple of neat old vintage quilt tops.
